This position is responsible for delivering organizational learning programs throughout the Graycor Companies to meet the training, development, performance management and continuous improvement needs of the business. Duties are focused on effective employee onboarding and orientation, technical skills training, ongoing career/professional development, and oversight of the talent/learning management systems. This position will also partner closely with our Engineer Mentoring Committee (EMC), Continuous Improvement Steering Committee (CISC), and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council on organizational learning efforts.
Reports to the EVP, Human Resources/OD.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to:
- Works closely with various managers and internal continuous improvement groups to assess specific gaps in organizational knowledge, skills, abilities, or behaviors (KSAB’s); makes recommendations on where skills training and development can address these gaps.
- Partner with internal subject matter experts to develop training content (and/or recommends or utilizes vendor learning programs) that address gaps in organizational KSAB’s and that meet instructional goals and objectives.
- Coordinate/lead efforts for subject matter experts to create and deliver unique, company-specific training content for in-person or virtual group discussions or webinar-based training.
- Provide subject matter experts who will facilitate learning programs with skills training and feedback on best practices, dos/don’ts to ensure effective learning takes place.
- Create (utilizing MS Word, PDF, PowerPoint, etc.) and/or acquire digital training procedure manuals, job-aids, tutorials, guides, and course materials as needed.
- Partner with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council in the development (and/or procurement) of training/learning content that addresses gaps in our DEI efforts.
- Coordinate and facilitate various instructor-led learning sessions (virtual and in-person) including (but not limited to) quarterly new-hire orientation events and ongoing engineer training/learning sessions.
- Serve as the system administrator of the Company’s talent/learning management system which includes new hire training, performance check-ins and reviews, goal planning, and other online training curriculum.
- Serve as resource and guide to managers and employees on goal setting, on-the-job learning, and performance improvement efforts.
- Assess and recommend mobile learning content to allow for flexible, just-in-time learning offerings where possible and appropriate.
- Oversee the Company’s compliance training curriculum to ensure content is enhanced and updated as needed.
- Partner with long-standing third-party learning and development providers to coordinate and schedule off-site, multi-day management and leadership development sessions.
- Evaluate internal learning programs (reaction, learning, behavior) to ensure training and development program effectiveness; update and revise learning programs as needed.
- Serve as resource/guide to managers and employees on the use of the Predictive Index (PI) personality assessments to understand individual and team personality styles and their impact on communication, team building and conflict resolution.
- Promotes relevant courses for learning opportunities and drives communication plan around learning and development efforts.
- Partner with managers and senior leaders to update existing competency models by position family as needed.
- Support other continuous improvement, HR, talent management, employee engagement, and/or employment branding duties as needed.
To be successful in this position, you will need:
- Strong critical thinking skills with a focus on how organizational learning drives better individual and team performance/results.
- Sense of urgency and proactive desire to support the various learning and continuous improvement needs of the business.
- 2-5 years of experience in learning and development and performance management; previous experience with a construction firm preferred but not required.
- Undergraduate degree in human resources, organizational development, or relevant discipline required.
- Strong computer skills (MS Teams, Outlook, Word, SharePoint, Excel, Power Point, GoToMeeting, Zoom) and ability to learn new systems/technology quickly.
- Previous experience with elearning authoring tools and software desired (e.g., Articulate 360, Captivate, Camtasia, EasyGenerator)
- Previous experience with talent/learning management software programs required; prior experience with Cornerstone on Demand (CSOD) preferred.
- Previous experience with behavioral/personality assessments (Predictive Index, DiSC, Meyers Briggs, or similar) preferred.
- Effective listening, verbal and written communication skills required.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to run meetings required; previous training facilitation experience and skills preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organization skills and the ability manage multiple, competing priorities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when managing sensitive performance management or employee relations issues.
