Assistant Project Manager for Graycor Construction Company (Oakbrook Terrace, IL) - Assist in the design, build, operation and maintenance of construction projects in compliance with the client's documents and quality requirements. Interface with the client as his primary contact, by receiving and communicating initial project setup information and periodic project status, writing significant project related correspondence, and representing the Company in meetings. Develop and/or analyze the preliminary project documentation, such as project code of accounts, subcontracts and purchase orders. Develop the project schedule and direct its long term planning and execution. Communicate/coordinate schedule & plan with subcontractors and vendors. Maintain strict control of the project budget for each work activity. Report monthly on the progress and current profitability of the project. Prepare, quote and negotiate contract changes with client. Participate in bidding, pre-construction services, budgeting and Continuous Improvement Programs. 100% travel required; position works remotely at client sites in the U.S. and reports to company office in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
Requirements include Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Construction Engineering & Management, Civil Engineering, or related; and progressive, post-Bachelor’s experience (5 years following Bachelor’s or 3 years with Master’s degree) as a Project Manager, or related project management occupation; which must include some experience with: building bid packages, soliciting bids, qualifying bids and negotiating subcontractor & vendor contract awards; Primavera Contractor/P6 software; creating project budgets; tracking and analyzing actual construction productivity compared to plan; use of labor productivity to project final cost weekly; reviewing subcontractor and vendor material/equipment submittals against project requirements and process approval, comments and/or rejections; coordinating material purchases, deliveries and forecast to ensure maximum utilization of resources and avoid delays; and conducting safety toolbox talks and site safety inspections.
