Description

Graycor is currently looking for a Sr. Steel Estimator to develop conceptual and hard bids for our manufacturing, retail, and energy transition markets. We are looking for a proven professional with a strong track record in creating competitive bids and budgets, with a comprehensive knowledge of the latest industry standards and practices.

 

Job Description:

  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for miscellaneous and structural steel projects.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare detailed material, labor, and equipment cost breakdowns.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Develop options and recommend best value solutions based on cost, engineering, quality, or availability of materials
  • Source and evaluate supplier quotes to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare bid proposals, including detailed scope of work, cost estimates, and project timelines.
  • Develop complete conceptual proposals to support business development and client maintenance
  • Stay current with industry trends, materials pricing, and construction techniques to ensure accurate and up-to-date estimates.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of estimating tools, processes, and best practices.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must have a strong understanding of conceptual estimating and lump sum estimating techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
  • Bachelor’s degree required with 7 - 10 years of work experience in the estimating of miscellaneous and structural steel in a union and / or merit-based environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong understanding of steel erection processes, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be proficient in estimating software (WinEst) and Microsoft Office Suite
